Bichir fish, native to Africa, are ancient freshwater species that have been around for millions of years. They inhabit slow-moving waters like swamps, rivers, and lakes. Known for their elongated bodies and prehistoric appearance, Bichirs belong to the Polypteridae family. There are several types, including the popular Ornate Bichir (Polypterus ornatipinnis) with its intricate patterns, the Dinosaur Bichir (Polypterus senegalus), and the Endlicheri Bichir (Polypterus endlicheri), known for their distinct body shapes and fin structures.
