Flowerhorn Fish

Flowerhorn fish are man-made hybrid cichlids first developed in Malaysia and Taiwan in the late 1990s. They are known for their vivid colors and prominent head bumps, or "kok." There are several varieties of Flowerhorns, including the Kamfa, which has a square-shaped body and fan-shaped tail, and the Zhen Zhu, known for its rounded shape and pearly scales. While their physical traits differ, all Flowerhorns share similar bold personalities and are highly territorial.

Before adopting a Flowerhorn, it's important to consider their need for a spacious, well-filtered tank, as they can grow up to 16 inches. They are aggressive, so housing them with other fish can be difficult. Flowerhorns also require a protein-rich diet and regular water changes to maintain health. Popular varieties like the King Kamfa and Golden Base Flowerhorn are visually stunning but come with the challenge of managing their territorial behavior and ensuring their water conditions stay pristine.
