Pipefish

Saltwater pipefish, native to the tropical and subtropical waters around Asia, Australia, and the Indo-Pacific region, are unique, slender relatives of seahorses. With over 200 species, pipefishes come in various colors and sizes. Examples include the Dragonface Pipefish, Blue Stripe Pipefish, and Jansen’s Pipefish, each with distinctive colors and fin patterns. While species differ in size and habitats, all pipefishes share the same tubular, elongated bodies and use similar ambush tactics to capture tiny prey.

Before adopting pipefish, consider their specialized needs. They are delicate and require a peaceful, slow-moving environment and frequent feedings of live food like mysis shrimp. Pipefish are slow swimmers and may struggle to compete for food in crowded tanks, making them a challenging but rewarding pet.
